DIY Friday: Homemade Lip Scrub

Something I am sure almost has everyone has at at least heard of, is a DIY face or lip scrub. I actually saw this recipe from Kandee Johnson a long time ago but it was for the face scrub. I changed the ingredients a tad though and use it for my lips instead.

Ingredients:
Washed Raw Sugar
Organic Lemons
Olive Oil (optional)

The lemons rejuvinate the skin and will help darker lips brighten up and give  a glowing look. The sugar acts as the exfoliater. The olive oil will protect and coat lips from drying and cracking.

Because all this is going to touch my skin I want to use organic products. I chose raw sugar because there isn't any bleach or chemicals in it even though it might be a tad bit more rough.

Pour the sugar in your container and and squeeze the lemon in. You really don't need much at all, otherwise the scrub gets too runny. I let it sit for a few minutes and let the sugar soak up as much lemon as possible. You can add the olive oil for added moisture, but just a couple drops not too much.

When you use this scrub, you don't need to scrub vigorously. The larger granules of sugar will do that on it's own. Too much scrubbing could damage your lips. I just gently rub it around my lips for 30 seconds.
After I wipe off the sugar I rinse with warm water and put on a little chap stick to put back some of the moisture.

Has anyone tried this recipe before or something like it?

Anastasia Lash Genius Review and Pictures

New this summer to Anastasia is the Lash Genius. A topcoat waterproof mascara that can be applied to any mascara. This colorless topcoat is hypoallergenic, doesn't harden your mascara, refreshes instantly, and of course lasts.

I like this idea a lot we will see how it works out with all my other mascaras in the future. But for now it seems to do what it says. I am wearing L'Oreal Telescopic mascara.

In order to show you I applied Lash Genius to only one eye and plain mascara to the other. I sprayed my face with water, just a couple sprays. I then took my index fingers and in a downward motion rubbed my lashes.

I did do this twice the first time the Lash Genius smeared. And I thought, OK, really this can't be right. So I washed it all off and re applied and let my mascara completely dry before applying the Lash Genius. That was my problem, because the second time around my mascara didn't even budge!

Left eye with Lash Genius Right eye without

Top is before water spritz

Bottom after water was applied and wiped lashes.

The product is thick but not clumpy once applied to the lashes. I put two coats on but with the first swipe it feels like it covered my lashes well.

I love this product and I am really excited to start using this with my other mascaras. Everyone has that holy grail mascara and only if it were water proof when you wanted it to be. Well here it is!

5/5 Rating

This retails for $21 and you can buy it from Anastasia.com or Sephora

Make Up Forever Aqua Rouge: Iconic Red Swatches and Review

This gorgeous red I am about to share with you is one of the greatest shades of red I have seen. No doubt it has to be perfect, it was created for Madonna herself. "Gina Brooke, Madonna's longtime make up artist, has collaborated with Make up Forever to create the official lip color for the Material Girl's highly anticipated MDNA tour."

"smudge proof, sweat-proof and dance proof."

They aren't lying when they say lip stain! I literally scrubbed my lips for 5 minutes, I finally was able to get it off using a few makeup removers. The formula is amazing. You can either wear it matte or with the gloss. I like it both ways.

This red is absolutely perfect for those nights you want a bright red lip to last ALL night, and it WILL guaranteed!

I captured the color in two different lights so you can see the differences.

With outside light

Right only Aqua Rouge

With inside light

The featured company for The Beauty Blogger Bunch Fall 2012 Grand Prize Giveaway is The Balm.

I just joined the Beauty Blogger Bunch and signed up as a sponsor for the Fall 2012 Grand Prize Giveaway. The #bbloggerBunch was created to host huge quarterly beauty giveaways. It is free and open to all beauty or fashion bloggers and all other blogs as well, since the motto is about promoting and encouraging each other, while meeting lots of new friends along the way.

This giveaway will accept entries from the general public but anyone who joins the #bbloggerBunch will be invited to be a part of all the giveaways in one of two ways, either as a beauty host (free) or as a sponsor ($30 +). There were over 4000 entries in the first Grand Prize Giveaway in just 2 weeks!! Beauty Hosts spots just opened up for the upcoming giveaway...but once again spots are limited.

To qualify as a beauty host you must be a blogger that will be hosting a beauty giveaway during the same time frame as The Beauty Blogger Bunch giveaway (October 1st, 2012 - October 15th, 2012) and the value of your prize must be at least $25. Your link will be published and displayed every time someone enters The Beauty Bunch Fall Giveaway...similar to a blog hop. Being a sponsor also means your logo will be on the promotional material that is created for that giveaway. The promotional materials will be uploaded on many various social media sites, along with all the other sponsors and the beauty hosts. (*mentioned above)

SPONSORSHIP COST: Minimum $30 (sent via paypal)
• This price includes up to 3 links in the Rafflecopter application, your prize portion and to help cover the cost of shipping and handling.

BB Cream Series: Cover Girl BB Cream

Well, I had heard the buzz about this product not being a new formula. But I bought it anyway to see for myself. I own the Cover girl CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer and looking and comparing ingredients, nothing has changed. I even thought about not adding this in the BB Cream series but here I am doing it anyway. This is a complete FAIL from Cover Girl trying to slap on a " BB Cream" name on a  Cover girl CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer. Here are the swatches anyway.

Oh look it even says tinted moisturizer!

Just like the tinted moisturizer it very dewy. Once it dries for 5 minuets its pretty much matte but still has that tacky feeling. Not a lot of coverage on this it is VERY sheer.

$7 worth will get you 1.35 Fluid oz in my opinion this is a complete waste.

Essie Yogaga Collection: Boxer Shorts Swatch

One of the latest collections from Essie is the Yogaga collection. The colors are very creamy soft pastels. Boxer Shorts is one of those colors. This periwinkle purple is very hard to photograph and get a true color. It is so gorgeous on, I am in love! The formula is great no streaking and I only needed 2 coats for this look.
Below I took some pictures with different light so you can see what it looks like. To me it is more purple, some might say it's more blue.

Left no sunlight. Right direct sunlight.

This is photographed in the direct sunlight but it makes it look more blue than it is.

This to me is more of its true color. I took this picture in natural light in my house.
